Coach

Next to his successes as coach, Portael has had years of experience establishing and running a tennis academy of his own. He still is the owner of a Belgian tennis school at this time. His tennis school “Tennisteam Yesss” facilitates the training-sessions at various clubs.

Highlights

• Kris Portael has completed every trainers course in Belgium (Initiator tennis/KNLTB/A, Trainer B, KNLTB B, Trainer A, KNLTB C).
• Kris Portael made it to the final of the National Championships 35+ and belongs to the best 35+ players of Belgium.
• Kris Portael successfully runs a tennis school in Antwerpen, with more than 30 coaches who, under his supervision, give lessons at various clubs.
• Kris Portael has extensive experience with top tennis and gave even during his trainer course training to Belgian top players with WTA and ATP top rankings, such as Kim and Elke Clijsters, Kirsten Vliegen and Kristof Vliegen.

Personal vision
‘As a youth player I was found not good enough for the national selection, but that didn’t stop me from reaching a high level through my effort and hard work. My goal is to get the maximum out of every player.’

‘In my career I was fortunate to work with many top coaches and top players. Furthermore I am always open for new ideas. Those are the main reasons why I’ve succeeded in reaching a high level as trainer. Tennis for me is one of the most important things in my life, the game, the training, the suffering, the fun. Tennis is Life!’
